Customised core panelling for the bar area and screens:

Helvetica Campus.

What is it about?

The Helvetia Campus in Basel is much more than a new headquarters for the Swiss insurance company Helvetia in Basel. Herzog & de Meuron created a modern ensemble of two towers, an auditorium, offices and open meeting zones - a place that combines work, architecture and community. The campus unites all the previously scattered locations, offers flexible working environments and at the same time opens up to the city: with a cafeteria, bistro, art spaces and roof terrace. The result is a lively meeting place that creates identity and sets new impulses for Basel.

What exactly was the assignment?

A modern, high-quality metal solution that combines design, functionality and precision was to be created for the Helvetia Campus cafeteria. The focus was on a customised core cladding for the bar area, a large screen cladding as a room divider and information board, as well as a double screen for the auditorium. All panelling was made from high-gloss polished stainless steel.

What was the particular challenge?

The elements had to integrate harmoniously into the existing architecture, be fitted with millimetre precision and withstand the high functional requirements of daily operation. The curves and mirror effect of the polished stainless steel do not forgive any inaccuracies in the manufacture or installation of the panelling. The architectural consistency in the use of materials should be recognisable in every detail, with every finish and every fastening.

What was the result?

A cafeteria clearly structured by sophisticated design and elegant stainless steel surfaces. The high-quality stainless steel elements combine aesthetics, suitability for everyday use, precision and quality. They not only give the cafeteria a stylish appearance, but also impress with their durability and timeless design.

How did the cooperation go?

The collaboration with all parties involved - including the architects Herzog & de Meuron - was smooth and efficient. Decisions were made quickly, which enabled precise, high-quality realisation.
